Kenya borders on Ethiopia and Sudan in the North, on Somalia and the Indian Ocean in the East, on Tanzania in the South and on Lake Victoria and Uganda in the West. The country ranges over an area of 582,646 square kilometres, which is equivalent to 1.6 times the area of Germany.
Batian with a height of 5,199 metres is the highest peak, and forms part of the Mount Kenya mountain. The lowest spot lies at 0 metres at the Indian Ocean with its 480 kilometres long coast line. Tana, Athi and Kerio are the county's longest rivers. The largest Kenyan cities are Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret and Kisumu.
