Modell of Kisima restraurant after the renovation

The Kisima Restaurant at Severin Sea Lodge gleams in new splendour

After a small refurbishment, our Kisima Restaurant presents a new look. With new floor tiles, the restaurant is friendlier and brighter. The rearmost part of the dining area has been elevated, so that our guests can enjoy the wonderful view to the Indian Ocean.
The extended buffet area is now more spacious and due to our new cooking station, food can be prepared better and faster. Severin Sea Lodge is the first hotel at the coast to use an eco-friendly system to cool food at the buffet. By using deep frozen thermal packs, it is possible to avoid unnecessary energy for cooling.
With its “Shade Netting System”, Severin Sea Lodge takes an innovative route of ventilating the dining room. The old aluminum windows have been replaced by wooden frames. This system ensures, that even during the hot summer months a cool Ocean breeze streams through the restaurant. This system was first used to perfection at our Severin Safari Camp.

For our honeymooners or celebraties, we have extended our outdoor veranda and built a VIP Rotunda. Here you can enjoy an exclusive dinner while overlooking the Indian Ocean.
We are happy to welcome you to our new Kisima Restaurant. You can be rest assured of the usual high quality of our food and our friendly and courteous service team!
New pictures of the renovated Kisima Restaurant will soon be online at the photo gallery of our website.

Animal migration at Masai Mara

The animal migration into the Masai Mara in the south of Kenya is one of the most fascinating natural spectacles on earth. Already in June, countless gnus in the Serengeti planes give birth to their pups. With the beginning of the dry season, about 1.5 millions of gnus and hundreds of thousands of zebras join each other in a huge herd and set out to Masai Mara, where they normally arrive in July. This year, the great herds find especially opulent grasslands: after an abundant rainy season, the Masai Mara is a huge Garden of Eden for the animals of the savannah. If it wasn’t for the rivers: The herds collects at the banks of the Mara river and press nervously against each other until the first animal dares to jump into the river. Countless fellows follow and fall with a loud roar into the river. Some of them won’t reach the opposite saving bank, because the ever hungry crocodiles will use this opportunity to have a feast.
But the Masai Mara is worth visiting in every season. Apart from gnus and zebras, which wander through the Masai Mara in little herds, nearly all other species are territorial. The Masai Mara is famous for its big cats: it is almost guaranteed that you will see lions and cheetahs during your safari and even the shy leopard has never been seen as often as at Masai Mara.
Even the rainy seasons from end of March till April and in November have their own attractiveness. Between the rain showers which normally refresh the savannah in the early morning or late afternoon, there is enough time for exciting game drives. Especially during the low season, safari vacationers have the tranquility for watching the animals amidst the green landscape.

Hint: You want to overlook the whole vastness of Masai Mara? Stay at the luxurious Karen Blixen Camp. The 3-day air safari from Mombasa can be booked with Severin_touristik from 1.068,- € / person.

Congratulating the employees of the year

Ceremonial handover of the certificates by Severin Schulte and Andrew Muir

Severin Sea Lodge has chosen its employees of the year 2009

Throughout the year 2009, all department heads of Severin Sea Lodge have named an employee from their department for her/his extraordinary efforts. Together, the department heads have voted for the two employees of the month for both Front of House as well as Back of House.
All employees of the month have qualified for the selection of the employee of the year who were voted for by the entire staff.

We would like to congratulate the winners:
Joseph Omondi, who has been elected employee of the year for Back of House. Even though he serves as a carpenter, he also showed his skills as an electrician and was additionally responsible for producing the furniture for Severin Safari Camp. A task he managed superbly.
Raymond Rungua, who has been elected employee of the year for Front of House. His contact with both guests and colleagues is always exemplary; he went the extra mile without having been asked to and took on extra tasks by choice.
Congratulations! We are glad to have such outstanding employees in our team!
