A smile on the face of the children is the nicest present for our work!
Kenya is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa: For some people Kenya means endless white beaches, coconut palms and turquoise water. For others it is the wideness of the savannahs and the breathtaking Animal Kingdoms.
But as a third world country, Kenya also has to face with several problems.
Severin Touristik GmbH wants to make a contribution to the improvement of the living conditions and the future perspectives of the children in Mombasa. Therefore, we support the orphanage Mij Wa Salama, close to Severin Sea Lodge, which lives solely from donations.
The driving force is Mrs. Cornelia Schulte, the wife of the managing director of Severin Touristik. Together with Mrs. Inge Hoffmann, she supports the children and the orphanage since several years.
Mij Wa Salama was founded in 1971 from a small group of people. At that time, there were only a few children, who came to the place of peace to get a bit of food.
Today, there are 60 children between the age of 4 months and 18 years, who found a caring home. Many of the children were abandoned or abused, but at the orphanage they find security and affection.
Thanks to numerous activities organized by Cornelia Schulte during the last years, like the Charity Ball at the Sunderland Hotel or the cooperation with a school in Germany, a lot of donations could be collected. For Cornelia Schulte, it is important that the money is well received in Kenya and that it is also well spent.
Every child gets three meals a day, medical consultation and a qualified school education.
It is very important to establish a future perspective for the children. Therefore, we put an emphasis on the school education, because education is the most important condition to find a job in the future.
Our home is an oasis for the children, where they can grow up with heartiness, love and affection and where they can develop themselves - to young and hopeful people.
