The environment

In Severin Safari Camp we follow the principles of ecological tourism. Thus the preservation of the natural resources is especially important to us. And for this reason we have developed a programme that makes a contribution towards environmental friendliness both in Severin Sea Lodge as well as in Severin Safari Camp. Beyond this we train our safari drivers and also our tourist guides on the spot in Mombasa.

In Tsavo we work closely toghether with the Kenya Wildlife Service. It is also important for us that we inform our guests and partners about the environment and environmental protection.

Severin Safari Camp is the first camp to have a water cleansing plant at its disposal in the middle of the bush. The dirty water from the tents and the kitchen is collected and then treated with the help of anaerobic and aerobic bacteria as well as lava stones. The clarified water is then used to irrigate the lawns. In all the tents there are containers which enable the rubbish to be sorted into organic and non-organic waste.  The non-organic waste is then sorted again and the glass is handed on to a trader in Mtito Andei.

Environmental champion

Plastic bottles go back to Mombasa to be recycled. Organic waste is put into a pit to decompose. Apart from this we also possess a solar water heating system. The water is heated with help of the sun's warmth and energy from generators - so that our guests can also enjoy a hot shower.

The camp possess a solar energy plant which provides an adequate supply of electricity throughout the day.
