Visit Mombasa's special highlights and get a unique insight of the Swahili culture during your Private Mombasa City Tour

In the morning, you are picked up by our driver at the reception of your hotel. You will be informed of the pickup time from your hotel at the time of booking. Our city tour starts at 09:00 am.
Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya with a population of half a million; the city centre is located on an island in the Indian Ocean. The town is heavily influenced by Arabic culture.
During the city tour, you will visit Mombasa's most important sights. The Mackinon Market is very popular for its Fresh fruits and vegetables sold there daily. You will also visit the Hindu temple, which is very beautifully decorated. You will also see the famous »Elephant Tusks« which are Mombasa's landmark. The tusks were built to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth to the town in 1952, as they lay directly on route from the port to the town.
The road leads you to Fort Jesus. The 400 year old fortress was built by the Portuguese in 1593 to guard the old port of Mombasa. See the magnificent 16th century military architecture of the fort that was won and lost nine times by nations contesting control of the strategic island of Mombasa and the gateway to the "dark continent". Afterwards you walk through the narrow streets of the historic old town down to the Old Dhow Harbour.
After that, a very special program awaits you. You will enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch in the family home of a local Sheik. During your city tour, you will also visit the Akamba Woodcarvers Market. Woodcarvers, who use traditional handicraft tools, show you how to create intricate carvings.
The excursion ends around 03:00 pm and our driver will return you back to the hotel.
